This amateur bodybuilding contest is intended to promote the healthy principals and standards that seem lost in today’s bodybuilding competitions. Therefore, the judges will be instructed to score negatively for the following: • Obvious signs of steroid or other drug use • Excessive or blotchy fake tanning products: Don’t look like you poured a can of deck stain on yourself. (Think Arnold’s healthy looking skin tone in Pumping Iron) • Thong type and generally skimpy posing trunks: We don’t want to see your butt cheeks. Classic style posing trunks, boxer style briefs, shorts rolled up etc.. will work and be acceptable. The judges just need to evaluate the quadriceps and hamstrings. • Excessive leanness: Although unlikely in our little event we thought we’d address this too. It’s usually a sign of drug/diuretic use. The classic physiques did not have shredded glutes. If you have them, great but it isn’t Iron Age and you will be marked down. Come in lean, hard, and healthy looking. The above are issues that, if addressed in mainstream bodybuilding competitions, could help steer the sport back onto a better course. We will shine a light in that direction. Maybe one day they will see.
Total Points: Each judge can award up to 9 points per category plus 3 participation points for a potential top score of 48 points. All judges’ scores will be totaled together for a grand total of points. The winner is selected based upon the grand total number of points. Following the contest, each contestant will be provided with a grand total of points per category. This should be used as a tool for self improvement in the future. All points awarded by the judges and the judges’ decision are final and will be accepted by both Iron Age and by the contestants.A Most Muscular award will be selected by adding up only the muscularity and size category totals for each contestant. Any ties will be decided by a final vote of the judges.
Winners:• A $250.00 gift certificate for Hot Stuff Nutritionals products will be awarded to the winner of the overall Mr. Iron Age contest.
• All contestants will have their photos displayed on the Iron Age Forum.
• Winners will be displayed on the main Iron Age website with pictures, bios, and interviews.
• A Trophy will be awarded and sent to the winner of the Mr. Iron Age .
We are sure to find bugs to work out as we promote our fledgling bodybuilding competition. Please bear with us and be aware that we reserve the right to change or adjust certain rules or requirements as needed. Please be aware that although this is an amateur bodybuilding competition, prizes with monetary value are given out and could effect your standing as an amateur competitor in other areas. Thank you, Iron Age Administrators
